Embracing the New You

6–8 minutes
Hello! Welcome!

How has everything been going? How are you embracing your “new normal”?

The past few days have been better for me, I am learning how to embrace disruptions in my plans and focus on the positives in every situation. Some days are better than the other, but overall, I am good!

Last week, my oldest daughter kept asking about our plans for Easter. I was stunned about having Easter service online…I miss attending church physical. I didn’t bother to start planning until my daughter kept pestering me. I decided to dress them up, cook a good meal and have a mini party at home. God also spoke to my heart and said, “Irrespective of the location, Easter is still worthy of celebration.” That got me stirred up! After our Sunday service, we ate and danced the night away! I had not danced that much in a long while, even my husband was surprised!

I want to encourage you to learn the art of dancing in the rain! Or Making lemonade out of lemons! Two things can come out of unpleasant/unexpected situations, you either come out better or worse. While some see solutions others will only see problems. Our minds must be trained to see opportunities in the midst of crisis. Learn how to channel your thoughts (Philippians 4:8) correctly and see how it’ll impact your outlook, perspective, behaviors and perspective. Some have compared the mind to a battlefield, stating that every battle begins and ends in one’s mind. The best way to win any battle is to prepare for it, when the battle arises, you’ll be ready to face it confidently (Proverbs 24:10). There are voices (the devil’s, your mistakes, your past, etc.) that you’d have to conquer and a voice (God’s) that you’d have to continuously yield to in order to live a blessed and successful life. The mind is so powerful, once you can train it to visualize and assimilate eternal truths, you’ll become unstoppable.

Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. Romans 12:2 TPT

This “down time” has pushed be to assess my life and reevaluate my reasons (why do I do what I do? Why do I behave the way I do? Why I am where I am at this point of my life? Etc.). I realized that I really needed to invest more in my self-growth, my mindset needed an upgrade! That is the key to any significant change, you are what you think! If you give someone with a poverty mentality one million dollars, they’ll end up back at square one (BROKE!) in no time because they have not developed the capacity to manage and multiply wealth.

Another thing that I noticed during my self analysis is that in my process of evolving overtime, I lost some aspects of myself. I allowed the titles of wife, mommy, mentor, pastor, and career woman to overwhelm me and I forgot how to truly be me! The playful, funny, semi-social (struggles of being an introverted extrovert…long story!), music and dance lover, etc. Life happened and I subconsciously allowed “life” to sap my energy and rob me of the things that make life colorful and fun! Life is meant to be enjoyed not endured. In embracing the newer version of me, I am also holding on to my uniqueness, I refuse to become hardened because of unpleasant circumstances, I look at them as steeping stones, not stumbling blocks! My identity is hidden in Christ, I am a true daughter of my father, the King of Kings!

Many things have changed due to the pandemic (COVID-19), going back to life as we once knew it is impossible. To ensure that we don’t get loss or stuck in the past, we must upgrade our minds to birth a newer and better version of ourselves.

I have been taking time this month to feed my mind by studying God’s Word, listening to messages, signing up for online courses that will challenge me and allow God to do a work in me. Although change is uncomfortable, it is necessary I am tired of business as usual or history repeating itself (you should be too!). I am responsible for how my life turns out (so are you!), God has made all that I need for a success life available, I must run with the vision that he has placed in my heart!

The decision to make progress and be successful is a daily decision, everyday must be lived with the consciousness of the vision that God has inputted within you with the desire to give it total expression. We were not created to make money; money was created for us as a resource to fulfill our purposes. The same goes for chasing after material things, the chase will end in unfulfillment, loss of sanity and peace, and wasted energy and time.

At times like these, we must train our minds to focus on what is more important. What is the point of working hard to purchase cars that you can’t drive during a lock-down? Or slaving at a job to purchase clothing, shoes, accessories that you can not wear due to social distancing?

I believe that one of the greatest tragedies in life is to die without fulfilling one’s purpose. In the fulfillment of purpose, you can’t give what you don’t have. In seasons of ‘stillness’, wisdom demands one to build capacity for the next level, if not, when the opportunity to make progress arises, one will crash under the pressure!

In this season, I see God working on his children, calling on them to rise-up and take their places! It is time to divorce the excuses! Not having enough time can no longer fly (a special shout out to the essential workers that are still working hard in this season!), we all know that we always make time for the things that matter to us!

Those huge God-given dreams that we have are worthy of our time, efforts, energy, and dedication! Fulfilling our dreams, discovering or working in purpose is no walk in the park, it requires work but it is worth it! When we prioritize and focus on the source of our dreams (God) and step out in faith on his Word and instructions, we will indeed fly, we may fall a few times along the way, but if we keep our eyes on the prize we will soar!

Success will be inevitable! Be encouraged! The best version of YOU is yet to be born! Discover and Embrace the new YOU!

This is so inspiring, I had to go back and read one or more phrase again to digest. I have been hard on myself, in fact seeing other people do certain things became my yardstick for my success. The holy spirit ministered to me to take one day at a time and not be too hard on myself. Most importantly enjoy the process. I’m coming out stronger and better, and living purpose.

I am so glad that you were inspired! Yes, I always have to remind myself to not be so hard on myself and to focus on progress over perfection. Everyone has their own path, there is no need to compare. Stronger and better is the GOAL!

‘In a season of stillness, wisdom demands we build capacity for the next level…’ that got me.
As you said, one thing is for sure, things will not remain the same after this period so I am grateful for the remainder to prepare and GET READY for what’s coming by keeping my eyes on Him (Jesus). Thank you ma, it was inspiring. 😊
