Hey DDB Fam,
As we say goodbye to the month of July, I sincerely hope that it was a great one for you!
For me, July was extremely busy and productive at the same time. A great combo! It also moved quite fast, I can’t believe it is almost August!!! Where did the summer go?!?!
Today I want to talk about what to do when it seems like things are not going as planned. This situation can be quite discouraging. Do all the right things, checking all the boxes, and dotting all the I’s, and then BOOM, things don’t go as planned!

One of the temptations you will experience is wanting to just give up, or you become stuck. You had a picture in your mind, but your current reality is a far cry. Have you ever planned something, spent lots of money, and made several sacrifices, and then you hit a dead end?
Life! Saying “Don’t Give Up” seems easier said than done sometimes.
At times, giving up seems to choose YOU.
But guess what, the best results are often produced after pressure is applied. No fire, no gold! There is a famous saying that goes, “No pain, no gain.” I believe that your testimony after a huge challenge hits differently. You become more grateful, and you value the outcomes better.
As you all know, I launched my podcast, the Destination Destiny Podcast last year. It was a step outside of my comfort zone. Naturally, I prefer to write and remain faceless than to speak and show my face. I also struggled with the fact that I had not reached my weight loss goal (just being honest!), and I had to show up because God said so.
Also, a few months prior, I also published my latest book titled “Soteria: Saved By A Name”. Both projects involved sacrifices of time, financial resources (I practically used all of my savings), material resources, and human resources. I spent many weeks and months planning for each project, and I barely had a break.
Yet, after each project, I felt underwhelmed by the outcomes. I expected more results. I expected the “viral effect.” I was at the brink of feeling like all the investments in these two projects, while juggling so many other things (like my Fashion Business), were NOT WORTH IT!

I had to get myself together, calm down, and go back to the one who instructed me to do both projects. I just poured out my heart, and I let him do what he does best…comfort and redirect me… helping me to see that nothing done with the intention to impact lives is a waste.
He reminded me about he value of a seed. Seeds often appear small and insignificant, but their true value is never actualized until they’re sown into the ground. Covered by dirt and fighting to weather the storms of life and make it out alive. Every seed goes through a process until it produces its desired results…a fruit, a flower, or a tree.

Never be afraid to start small…and if it seems like you have started yet remained small…reflect…count your victories…the fact that you started and completed the task is enough to be proud of. Think about the lives that are better because of your obedience…even if you can just count them on only one hand… that is more than enough. Think about those you have inspired despite your challenges…now that is a life of impact! And the truth is that is all that matters!
I want to encourage you today, fam, a seed that is continuously watered can not remain small. You have come too far to throw in the towel; imagine how many people will be affected by that. Plus, you won’t have any fulfillment…so let’s keep going, the end goal is worth the process, you will be glad you kept going!

On another note, I had lunch with one of my childhood sister-friends a few days ago, and it was so needed. Because I am extremely busy, I usually use my spare time to attempt to catch up on some sleep and rest a bit…this doesn’t always pan out as intended, though.
One thing we both noted was that “adulting” comes with its fair share of challenges. And one thing that we agreed on that works for both of us is to take a break from all the noise and just breathe.

I was telling her about how I used to pride myself in responding to text messages and emails quickly, but nowadays, I can go without responding to both unconsciously. Not because I want to ignore people, but at times, my phone just gets on my nerves! While I love technology, it is so important to take a break from it from time to time and be present before losing yourself in a technology-driven world.
At times, I love to bask in the simplicity of life. Like hanging out with a friend in person instead and texting them back and forth. When I went out for lunch with my sister-friend that day, it was hard to get out of bed, dress up, and look decent on a Saturday, but after the time together, I felt refreshed. It felt good to have interaction with a person who wasn’t depending on me for something…as a leader and mother, I am often bombarded with people needing me.
This is a reminder to take breaks to breathe and refresh as you fulfill your vision for life and go after your goals. As it is often said, “You can not pour out of an empty cup.” Those few hours spent with my sister had me energized and ready to take on a new week!
Fam, how do you recharge and refresh? I’d love to hear from you!
With lots of love,
