Hey DDB, I know, it’s been a long since you’ve read a post from me. My last post was back in June. I am so sorry, I actually had a post that was supposed to go up in July to celebrate my husband and I hitting year ten in our marriage, but it did not go as planned.
So much has been going on over the last few months and it has been very heavy on my heart to share with you all.
Before I proceed, if you are new here WELCOME!!! It is so good to have you here today. This is the Destination Destiny Blog where I share personal experiences to help you navigate your way to fulfilling your destiny. In this space, YOUR DREAMS ARE VALID!

Where do I start? I HAVE A LOT TO SAY! Be sure to read to the end, I have exciting news!
Life has been LIFE-ING!
But God remains FAITHFUL!
One thing that has characterized this season of my life is newness. I’ve been pushed into new territories, places I’ve successfully avoided in the past. One of those territories has to do with stewarding the relationships in my life and initiating new ones.
During the summer, my family and activated the “We Outside” status. I had to be intentional about showing up for people. In the past, I always had an excuse for not attending a function. It was one thing or another, my introverted side getting in the way, being too tired from adulting, having to prepare for a ministration, having a church service or program to attend, etc. While the majority of my reasons for not attending social functions regularly were valid,

It suddenly hit me that being there to celebrate people goes a long way. I never understood the magnitude of showing up and being present for people. Over the last few months, I’ve learned the importance of making sacrifices for those we love.
While I may have shown up exhausted, celebrating milestones – 40th & 50th birthdays, baby showers, our church volunteers, visiting family, and friends, attending a sister-friends conference, attending a naming ceremony, etc. have been worth it! Sharing the joy of others is priceless!
Also, it has been therapeutic, there is nothing like taking a break from your everyday routine and also use it as an opportunity to spend time with my family. My girls enjoyed our summer outings! Although my oldest stated that she’d like to go on international trips during her summer break from henceforth…rolls eyes…this generation is high maintenance!

.I just got back from a vacation with my husband and oh my goodness, we had the time of our lives! We never had the opportunity to have a vacation and I am so grateful to God that it finally happened this year! The tenth year of our union!
We were originally supposed to travel during our anniversary month in July, but we had childcare challenges, and I will never leave my children with just anybody. I am sure that the parents in the house can relate! But I tell you, the time we went was absolutely the best! We traveled to beautiful Jamaica the day after my birthday and a few days after a major program that I planned. God’s timing is always the best!
I still had a little mom guilty while on our way to the resort but it disappeared once I arrived and realized that my sister had everything taken care of at the homefront. Thank God for my sisters!
If you’ve been a member of this family for a while now, you’ll know that we did NOT have an official honeymoon. So I had been praying for and about the trip for over a year. I found my desired resort and read about it, watched numerous videos on it, looked up tons of reviews, etc. And I was convinced, I fell in love before I arrived. It took a while to convince my husband because it was quite expensive but he eventually came on board…THANK GOD!
And guess what! The resort exceeded our expectations! God answers prayers! We were treated like royalty! The resort was beautiful, the people were warm, the food was amazing, and ultimately we got to spend quality time together while taking a break from our regular schedule.
Dear married couples, GO ON VACATION! It is a NEED!
I did not realize how sleep sleep-deprived until I caught myself napping during the day. I slept like a baby throughout our five-day vacation. We were both in high spirits and very relaxed. It was like we were brand new people!
During our vacation, I understood what it meant to operate from a state of rest. We still had life to face and destiny to fulfill but we were not under pressure, we were not stressed out. The distance from our day-to-day activities forced us to stay put, trust the systems we had put into place, rely on the people we’ve trained, and ultimately trust God to do what he does best.
That is a message for someone! REST! Step back, throw up your hands, look up to God, and TRUST him! Oftentimes we are overwhelmed because we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders instead of putting it on God! Caring for yourself is above your pay grade sis/bro…so chill!
Like I told you, life has been life-ing, while we had an amazing time during our vacation, I contemplated canceling it a few days before. After getting calls that two of our family members had medical emergencies. To be honest, I was afraid at first. I had to reach out to my spiritual father to pray for them and me. And thank God for him, his prayers strengthened me to stand in faith for my family members.
I reached out to my intercessory team and also had to pray until I heard God say that they would be fine before I could settle down and pack. Yeah, I packed the day before and was up all night having to be up at 4:00 a.m. for our 6:35 a.m. flight. God is the only one who can give true peace, that is why it is important to know him and rest in him.

Another thing that has happened to me recently is the end of certain relationships.
This has been quite painful but I’ve learned to keep it moving, not all relationships are meant to last forever, right? Hmm, I guess.
I’ve had the privilege to mentor a lot of amazing people over the years and I’ve valued the relationships that have been formed and the opportunity to be a blessing.
Over the last few months, I’ve experienced mentee breakups. I now know what it feels like to be ghosted. And one thing that I don’t like is being ignored. I rather you be sincere and tell it like is.
Have you ever been broken up with over a text message? Yeah, that is kind of what happened. Ignored calls, avoided having conversations, and promised to reach out but have yet to come through.
When I love someone, I love hard! And I love these two women so much. One of them, I met recently and the other I’ve known for a couple of years. There were moments when I beat myself up and felt like I should have done things differently but what hurt the most was the relationship ending or just fading out.
Ministers hurt too…Yes, we have feelings also! I usually avoid talking about ministry on here but I just had to share. Just like a shepherd leaving 99 sheep to go after 1 sheep, when you have the opportunity to pastor and mentor people, they are more than a number, it is a destiny that has been put into your care.
And when things end abruptly, maybe they no longer feel like you’re the right fit, maybe they get offended by something or they can not overlook the fact that you are human and far from perfect, it can be discouraging.
But one thing has been comforting to me. A few years ago during a conversation with my spiritual mother, I paraphase… she told me to always choose love. People will not always perceive you correctly, but God will send more than enough people to you that will stick to you. During another conversation, she told me to allow those who choose to leave to go, but love them enough for them to feel comfortable if they choose to come back when they need you.
I hope that helped someone!

Thanks for sticking around to the end of this long but GREAT post!
