Two Are Better Than One

4–6 minutes

Hey family! I know I know it has been a loooonnnggg while! I missed you all SO much!

Special thanks to those who reached out to check on me, I appreciate the love. I apologize for neglecting this space.

Several people have subscribed to the blog since my abrupt absence and I’d like to welcome you to the Destination Destiny Blog family, you are most welcome! Thank you for joining me on a journey to living the life of our dreams.

For my long-time fam, I am pretty sure you are wondering where I have been and what I have been up to. Hmm, where do I start? Since the beginning of this year, I literally hit the ground running with lots of steep inclines. As you know, running uphill is more challenging than running a straight trail. Wheww! It has definitely been a marathon-like experience.

You know when you have plans but they become overridden or delayed by other things? Yeah, that is been the story of my life. Not all bad but a little annoying at times. How about you family? It is time to evaluate! We are currently in month number six, are we crushing our goals, or nah? Are we making progress or do we feel stuck? I want to hear from you, talk to me in the comment section!

I’m still playing catch on some first-quarter goals but nothing is lost. While some plans have been disrupted, several opportunities have come my way. Talk about all things working together for good!

Now to today’s official post…

As you know…in this space, we talk about all things Marriage…Motherhood…Ministry and much more!

Today I want to talk about Marriage.

Lately, my heart has been aching as a few couples that I know either directly or indirectly are either separated or divorced. Sigh.

I don’t know of anyone that goes into marriage with plans to call it quits down the line. Since marriage is much more than a contract, when things go south it affects so many aspects of one’s life. Marriage is the joining of two people, where they become one. When there is a break in the union, it can lead to symptoms of grief…where they can practically feel like a part of them has become deceased.

I have been married for almost a decade and I’ve had my fair share of challenges but there is beauty in staying the course. When the foundation is solid and both parties are willing to put in the work, it pays off.

As I count down to year ten of marriage, I thank God for the journey. He has been the one that has kept us. He has surrounded us with mentors and loved ones who have covered us in prayer and cheered us on continually. Our support system is solid and has been one of our greatest weapons.

There are so many reasons to want to throw in the towel but nothing beats the victory that awaits after the enemy’s tantrums. The high points of my marriage have often been after a rough path.

I never judge people for making a decision to part and go their separate ways. In some cases, where things are toxic and matters are detrimental to one’s well-being, separating for a timeframe or forever may be advisable. For example, abusive relationships are a NO! You were not created to die trying to make things work under such circumstances.

It is clearer to me now like never before that it is time to secure our homes, leaving no vacancy for the devil! The war is against the enemy’s tactics and not the flaws of one’s spouse. I don’t know who needs to read this but… DON’T ALLOW THE DEVIL TO TURN YOU AGAINST YOURSELF! A KINGDOM DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CAN NOT STAND!!!

There is so much manipulation and deception in the atmosphere. When the real issue is not you or your spouse, the devil is petrified of God’s kingdom agenda for these end times. So he plays with your mind and makes a big deal out of nothing, creates unrealistic scenarios, or attacks your weak spots until he successfully breaks you.

Now, I am not saying to sweep things other the rug and ignore major issues. Constantly work on becoming a better version of yourself so you can do better in your marriage. Fix the issues that have been causing disruptions in your home. Invest in the marriage of your dreams.

I am telling you to choose your battles wisely and deal with the real enemy. I long to see a new era of role-model marriages. Where everyone is fulfilled and doing big things. I want to see marriages that prove that two is indeed better than one. I long to see families that don’t have to share custody of their children. Unbroken families where the kingdom is exemplified. I want to see a generation that is not afraid to get married because of what they’ve experienced.

For anyone going through a separation or divorce, much love to you. Your life is not over, you can experience new beginnings, and the pain won’t last forever.

For anyone going through a tough season in their marriage, my heart is with you and I am praying with you. Things can get better, help is available, and there is still hope.

For those who are single and desire marriage…your wait is not in vain, it pays to wait and get it right than to rush and get crushed. I pray that your marriage blessing will arrive right on time.

Family, I don’t know what category you fit into…there is so much going on in the world but know that you can still enjoy peace. God’s plans for you are good. And he promises to be with you through the ups and downs of life…put him first, have a real relationship with him, trust him and you will always win in life.

With lots of love,
