Celebrating ALL wins

3–4 minutes

Hello family! How are you all doing? I pray that your week is off to a GREAT start!

My week started off pretty busy. I took off work last week to celebrate my birthday; which was such a good idea! I was able to reflect and refresh! And then Monday hit and threatened to stress me out! I received a number of messages, emails, and phone calls from my children’s schools asking me to pick them up early. The news forecast stated that a hurricane was on the way.

That disrupted my schedule and my “peace”. After picking them up, they were extremely loud and very hungry. They kept asking for food and snacks! I definitely do not miss homeschooling and I am extremely grateful for teachers! To top it off their schools were closed on Tuesday. It took me three times longer to complete my tasks. At one point, I had to lock myself in my closet to do a recording for work. By the time my husband returned home from work on both days, I was exhausted.

But on a better note, thank God that the hurricane never happened! Many people lost power for some time (including us), and there was minimal damage here and there because of high winds, but it was not terrible.

Disclaimer: I love my children so much, but nothing beats a quiet home for me! I love my own company, I work very well in solitude, the creative juices flow easily! Thank God, their schools reopened today!!! I’ve gotten so much done in a short time.

Is it just me? I love the euphoria that I get from checking off things on my to-do list. It feels good to complete something and move on! However, there has to be a balance to celebrating accomplishments. I noticed that I’d allow myself to feel terrible for not checking all the boxes off of my checklist at the end of the day. I’d be so upset that I’d discount what had been completed.

I had to get it together real quick because I was starting to feel unfulfilled and discouraged. In this new year of my life, I have made up my mind to celebrate every day and moment. There is always something to be grateful for; there is always something good to focus on. Let’s do this together! Let’s celebrate ALL wins, no matter how big or small! Small achievements pave the way for bigger ones.

Now let’s talk about my epic birthday this past Friday! It was the best birthday that I’d have in a while!

I started off with a lunch date with my husband early in the week… we went to one of our favorite Indian restaurants the food was amazing!!! And then we went to another restaurant for dessert…mmm. The following day I went to get my nails done and a pedicure …it was so relaxing but expensive! I may be sticking to my press-on nails (haha). Plus, I did not like my nails initially; I had to go back to the nail shop and redo them.

The day before my birthday, I had a retreat – time alone with God…it was so good! I am so pumped about this new year! On the day of my birthday, I got a massage, ordered breakfast, and went out to dinner with my family in the evening. And on Sunday, my church members got me a cake and lavished me with gifts. I felt so loved! I can get used to this type of treatment!

Also, I selected winners for my birthday giveaways on Monday. It was so fun to do! I look forward to more giveaways, there is another giveaway up for grabs by the way. Check it out: Birthday Giveaway

By the way, I am still accepting birthday gifts! *winks*

Take care, fam! See you next week!

With lots of love,

    Wow,
I just learnt that I don’t have to feel unfulfilled and discouraged when I don’t get to check all the boxes.
There’s always something good to focus on.
Thank you very much, Pastor Bunmi.
