Hello DDB family!

I hope that your month is off to a great start! May has been busy but good to me so far! For all the mothers in the house, I hope you had a great mother’s day celebration!!! For those that desire to have their own children, I pray that God will surprise you with bundles of JOY!

In my last post, I shared about the journey to my third pregnancy. After discovering that I was pregnant, I was very happy especially since it took longer than expected. I shared the news with my spiritual parents, in-laws, parents, and siblings. Everyone joined in on the excitement. As with my other pregnancies, I thankfully did not have any morning sickness. But something was different this time around, being pregnant with two young children took a toll on my body. I had a lot of fatigue, by the time I arrived at work at 7:30 am, I was already counting down until 4:30 pm. Add the hot summer days plus the outreach portion of my job that required me to drive a lot, I was extremely exhausted. The highlight of my workdays was lunchtime,  my break was for an hour, I would quickly eat and sleep for the remainder of my break. Those power naps were therapeutic.

During my third pregnancy, I was determined to be healthy. I did meal prep during the weekends and exercised throughout my pregnancy. It took a lot of determination, I would give in to cravings once in a while but overall I did well and gained about 30-35 pounds during my pregnancy. With my consistent workouts during my pregnancy, I was expecting the snap back to be real however, the pandemic hit shortly after I gave birth and I am still on my weight loss journey. Baby weight + pandemic weight is not a joke!

During the first trimester of my pregnancy, after a routine lab test, my doctor discovered that my thyroid levels were low. My doctor was concerned as she said it could lead to a miscarriage, high blood pressure, a stillbirth, or anemia. She asked if I had this issue in my previous pregnancies, I told her no. She requested for me to redo the blood work. After redoing it, the results were the same. I was referred to an Endocrinologist, he asked if I had some symptoms like blurred vision, he checked if I had any swelling on my neck (i.e. a goiter), fatigue, chills, etc. I told him that I only experienced fatigue and he decided to observe me for some time instead of prescribing medication for me.

This issue required several doctor’s visits. At times, I would have to go for the appointments during my lunch break with the permission of my supervisor; after a while, I was told that it was no longer allowed. I had to take time off of work at times. Through it all, I would pray and take confessions on a healthy pregnancy and gracefully delivery. At times, I was tempted to worry but I kept holding on to God’s Word and I would reminiscence on how God brought me through my previous pregnancies. During my first pregnancy, my blood pressure was slightly high in my third trimester. After the birth of my second daughter, the doctors stated that there was a possibility that she had a hereditary disorder; at the end of the day to the glory of God, everything went smoothly and we were certified healed and healthy.

The journey from conception to delivery is an interesting one. It can be bumpy, sometimes it does not go as desired but God’s Will is for it to be a graceful one. His promises never fail, he has a track record of keeping his Word.

Exodus 23:26

New Living Translation

There will be no miscarriages or infertility in your land, and I will give you long, full lives

Psalm 113:9

New Living Translation

He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the LORD!

Life, in general, is filled with various journeys. At times, one can encounter roadblocks or closures, traffic jams, potholes, and so much more. The key is to allow the God of your journey to lead you, he knows the end from the beginning. If you surrender your journey to him, he will lead you through the wilderness, he will be your light in the darkness, he will straighten the crooked paths, lifts the valleys, and bring the mountains low so you can walk on them.

We were designed to be God-dependant, not self-sufficient. We are meant to cast our cares not carry around burdens. Everyone is in a different season of their lives and challenges do not discriminate, but one thing remains consistent, God’s love covering us and guiding us! Be encourages, with God on your side, it will end in praise! It is our choice, we should always believe the report of the Lord, it is always good irrespective of what life throws our way. He causes ALL things to work together for our GOOD!

My third pregnancy journey encountered some more twists and turns, stay tuned!

With lots of love,
