Today, I want to share from my heart and encourage you to DREAM BIG! Don’t give up until your dreams become your experience. At times dreaming big can be scary because it kicks you out of the zone of comfort and forces you to look above the horizon to a place that often seems far-fetched. Big dreams that are divinely inspired come with a compelling force that can not be shaken off, it becomes a vision tied to a life’s mission. At times, it won’t make natural sense, it won’t always feel right, and it will demand sacrifices but the return is greater than the investment; it is much more than money can buy.

After graduating with my master’s degree, I was shocked at the lack of fulfillment that I felt while I sat in the hot sun at my outdoor graduation ceremony. My path to graduation was not as smooth as I had planned. Prior to that day, I had been on an interesting roller coaster ride, with a delay after graduating with a bachelor’s due to a failure in my first graduate degree program, to horrible dead-end jobs, to being broke and unemployed after the company I worked for went bankrupt, to almost being evicted from my apartment, to finally getting accepted to a master’s program after many rejections and mustering the courage to apply to this last school a couple of days before the deadline, to being an A+ student throughout my master’s program for the first time in my life, and now, I sat there, confused and sweaty.

I had so many plans! I would finally be able to have a professional job that paid well, I would be able to help my parents, be a better big sister to my siblings, and plan for my future. The more I tried to fight the urge, the stronger it got! God wanted me to move into the unknown and just trust him. I cried for weeks, I came up with numerous excuses but nothing changed God’s mind, and I did not have peace, I could not fight it off. So, I began the process of relocation to a new country with bills piled up and no concrete plans. I took a risk, I did it afraid! If you’ve been an avid reader of this blog, you know the story. I will keep it short and get to the heart of this post.

After obeying God, and choosing his plan for my life over mine, I expected everything thereafter to be ‘a walk in the park’ or ‘smooth sailing’ without any bumps or hitches. But boy was I mistaken! The purpose journey has its challenges but it is all worth it! There are prices to be paid but you can never out pay God, there are multiple rewards on this journey and thereafter.

When God revealed to me that I would be actively involved in ministry, I did not begin to jump for joy. I’ve always wanted to help out with ministry and serve in my local church, but I never wanted to be hands-on. I did not want the attention, I just wanted to live a private life and be a blessing to people. At a point in time, I felt like God tricked me into doing ministry, the bigger picture that I saw in my heart was standing before large crowds and speaking to them, I never knew the details. Even when my husband and I started to pastor our first church, I thought we were meant to play a supportive role and do it temporarily. I am sure that if God told me why he wanted me to relocate to Nigeria, I would have ran far away!!!

A few weeks ago, we celebrated a milestone in ministry. I was glad, but a part of me felt unfulfilled. I was on the verge of discouragement until I took a journey down memory lane and saw how far God has brought us. My summary after those flashbacks was that GOD IS GOOD! I wanted to compare the overall vision in my heart to the current state of things, but I later realized that it was unreasonable. So I chose to thank God for the journey thus far and to ensure that I never gave up.

There have been times when I wanted to give up and find a way to disappear. But I thought to myself, where exactly will you go? What exactly would you do? I couldn’t possibly run from God and successfully do anything outside of his plan so I had to buckle down and receive the comfort of the Holy Spirit. I remember the counsel that my spiritual mother gave me years ago, she said (I paraphrase) “When the things that God has told you to do and the people that he has sent you to look like they’re getting out of hand; look to the God who sent you not to those things or people.”

Always return to your source, that is the key to your strength for the journey, your comfort when you are feeling down, your perfect counselor when you have more questions than answers, the one that fights for and with you, the one that can truly appraise your progress,  the one that sticks with you through it all and causes all things to work together for your good! Today, I want you to know that a life of purpose is worth living. It is the key to a fulfilled life. Because a life of purpose is a life absolutely dependent on God. A life that dances to the tune of the steady stream of words from God’s mouth.

This morning, I woke up to a voice note sent to me by a member of my church, before I knew it, tears began to flow from my eyes. I gave a prophetic Word as led by God’s Spirit on Sunday, he believed it and on Monday, he got his testimony! There have been many sleepless nights, many uncertainties, some disappointments, and some challenges. But I would do it over and over to see one person saved, one person set free, one person sickness free, one person empowered to be a blessing to their world, and the list is endless. Please don’t give up on your God-given dreams, don’t stop until they are actualized! I promise you, IT IS WORTH IT!
