On this day many years ago
Something GOOD happened!
It was externally relevant, without an expiration date.
It was good because it was predestined
He was falsely accused
He was punished for crimes he never committed
He pleaded guilty as charged
He was humiliated
He was disregarded
He was abused physically and verbally
He was treated like a wild animal
The whole thing played out like a horror movie
It was bloody
Skin torn
Veins busted open
Holes were driven into his bones
He was left with bad bruises and festering wounds
He was a king yet treated like a peasant
He was laughed at and mocked
He was spat at like he was scum
He was offered the drink of death but he regurgitated it
He was stripped naked
Crowned with painful thorns
His belongings were confiscated and betted on
He was crucified!
His accusers wanted to ensure that he had a painful death
The entire Earth was covered with darkness in the middle of the afternoon
He cried out some words before taking his last breath
The veil that hindered many from access into the holy of holies tore open
There was an earthquake, rocks splattered into pieces
It was clear that he was the Messiah, truly the King of Kings
His murderers and spectators were overwhelmed with regret, sorrow gripped them
Yet his father in heaven was elated! His heart was bursting with Love! He gave orders to prepare for his welcome home party! His son was coming home and he wants coming empty handed! He got his family back!!!
Isaiah 53:10
But it was the LORD’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD’s good plan will prosper in his hands. (NLT)
It was his good plan!
His good plan to redeem and restore the purpose of humanity
Created by love, to be loved, and distribute love
The good plan for us all to enjoy the good life
A life void of pain, sorrow, struggles, poverty & sickness
Jesus is the ‘he’, he was our substitute
He paid the ultimate price and gave us a free pass, it is your choice to take it!
Today is a GOOD FRIDAY!!!
