Dear Bunmi,
There have been many sleepless nights as your tears soak your pillow…your heart feels like it is physically falling apart. Maybe you should have seen this coming but you were in denial, holding on to what you assumed was hope…instead it was a facade. Now you have no choice but to face your present hour reality and move on, there’s no turning back…chapter end…case closed!
The beautiful thing about this mess is that God has become more real to you. For some reason, you have a feeling that everything is going to be alright. And you’ve made up your mind to face the deeply rooted issues and deal with them. This is a beautiful start! It will form a solid foundation.
First stop is your self esteem, which is currently at an all time low. It is so bad that you can barely look at your reflection in the mirror. All you see is flaws and imperfections, nothing looks good and you definitely don’t feel good either. You decide to work on your health and loose some weight accompanied with confessions- saying what the bible says about you out loud while daring to stare at yourself in the mirror. It wasn’t easy at first, but with time things began to transform. The weight began to drop off as you exercised and made changes to your diet…you also feel more confident. It feels magically, you’re praying that it is not a dream so you don’t have to wake up from it.
True changes begins with a decision- a decision to refuse to settle or manage; a decision to look beyond the past and focus on what the future holds; A decision to step back and allow God to step in, letting him drive while you gladly take the passenger’s seat. The Word of God is truly a tool of transformation, it is life giving…it truly tears down every lie that has dominated your life, it give you a new perspective and realigns you with God’s perfect Will. It beautifies your life and redefines your experiences. As you continue to interact with it, you become more like what you see in it. It is the truth!!!
Keep at it! It gets better! Take a day at a time and in no time, where you’ll find yourself will be quite a distance from where you once were. In fact, you’ll have difficulty believing that the old you no longer exists, the new you will be a drastic variation.

If you can relate to the things written above, I want you to know that I understand how you feel. It is okay, don’t feel bad. It is okay to be at that point now, but you don’t have to stay there. Confusion, doubt, shame, and depression do not have to be your companions; they’re the worse company to have. Breakup with those emotions and choose to be happy and free. You have the power to create the type of life that you’ve always desired. That power becomes activated when you make the decision to come into the right relationship with the right person.
