Hello there! Glad to have you here!

In today’s post, I continue the Dear Bunmi series. It is a series that addresses myself at various stages of my life in retrospect.  The aim of this series is to encourage people going through similar issues and phases. It is a reminder that tough times don’t last. It is not over until it is good! You either win or learn!

Dear Bunmi,

Welcome to this new life, it is absolutely new…your old life no longer exists! Yup, POOF!!! It’s gone! Now, I know that you look the same, feel the same and think the same. Deep down inside you know that something is different, and you’re trying to figure out how to give expression to it. No worries, it is a process… a journey in itself. There are various stages and it won’t always be easy but it will be so WORTH IT!!!

Just when you’re trying to figure it all out, you get side tracked. Three weeks after the breakup, someone else manages to catch your attention and keep it for a while. It was not ‘love-at-first-sight’ it was more like ‘annoyed-at-first-sight’; but somehow he grew on you. He was a welcomed distraction from having to deal with the drama associated with breakups. You just enjoyed his company, you felt like you both had things in common. He was cool, so when he asked you out that day in the car in front of your apartment, your response shocked both you and him.

Everything was going too fast, but you were enjoying the adrenaline rush! And the journey began, it started off fine…but things started getting complicated a few months into the relationship. Boundaries were crossed and you found yourself in a familiar place; history repeated itself and it didn’t feel good. But, you felt stuck! And you stayed with that feeling for over two years, a victim of your own choices.

You are not defined by your mistakes, irrespective of how far you go, TRUE Love’s arms are always opened wide; you don’t have to hide! There is no shame in him, he sees you as you truly are, flaws and all. You were made in his image and after his likeness. Made to look like him and act like him; your life is not about becoming who you are not; instead it is about becoming your true self. You become your true self by getting to know your creator intimately. When you get to know him, you discover your true self. It is the best feeling in the world!

You have a purpose, you are unique! The world is awaiting for your big reveal. You don’t have to be trapped in a predicament that does not favor you. You are better than this! There is more to you! In this new life, you have to learn the principles that govern it. Learning takes time, it takes effort and it takes patience. And you have a perfect guide and teacher in this new life, you’ll get to meet him soon! Get excited!!!

If you can relate to the things written above, I want you to know that I understand how you feel. It is okay, don’t feel bad. It is okay to be at that point now, but you don’t have to stay there. Confusion, doubt, shame, and depression do not have to be your companions; they’re the worse company to have. Breakup with those emotions and choose to be happy and free. You have the power to create the type of life that you’ve always desired. That power becomes activated when you make the decision to come into the right relationship with the right person.
