Hello there!!!
How are you today? Thanks for stopping by today.
In today’s post, I continue the Dear Bunmi series. It is a series that addresses myself at various stages in my life in retrospect. The aim of this series is to encourage people going through similar issues and phases. It is a reminder that tough times don’t last. It is not over until it is good! You either win or learn!
The beautiful thing about God is that it doesn’t matter where you’ve been; with him, it only matters where you’re going. Every single day presents you with a choice of direction, either God’s way or your way. The key is to walk with him long enough until his way becomes yours.

Enjoy today’s new post below:

Dear Bunmi,
Yes, I know, you managed to make it through Junior High School without any “incidents”. But, wow! High school is a whole new ball game! You’re strong enough to scale through those sticky situations. High School is a critical time, at the end of it you’ll be considered an adult. You don’t have to be confused about the future, there is someone who owns your future; someone who knows your end. Don’t get tired of me talking about him, he truly is a lifesaver!
Your purpose will be revealed to you as you seek to know him. It really isn’t as complicated as it seems. There are no prerequisites, just let go of your fears and allow him in. There is a path that has been customized for you, but you need a guide; you don’t have to do it alone or afraid. There is something called faith when you learn it and possess it, you truly live. The struggle seizes when you let him in.
So, your future seems ‘bleak’…you feel clueless…the mainstream careers don’t seem to interest you…your hobbies…sleeping, eating, reading, writing and dancing don’t seem like they’ll take you that far. And it doesn’t help that your closest friends have known that they’ve wanted to be doctors from the womb. You hate hospitals, they smell funny and you hate to see people fighting for their dear life. All you want is a world void of evil, poverty, and sickness. You have a desire to help people become free from various habits, choices, and actions that have bound them. Pay attention to that, the things that trouble you…your pet peeves can be pointers to your purpose. You hold a solution to a problem, without you, it will go unresolved.
Your desire to help people is paramount to your purpose; it is just not in the way you think it is. I l know that your parents shut down your studying psychology dream. Trust me, they did you a favor. You don’t have to limit yourself to what is common. After all, your life is much more than a career. You were born for much more than to pay bills and die. You were born for much more than the American dream of owning a huge house, luxury car while being happily married with beautiful children to show for it. You were created to fulfill a dream. Discover your dream, believe in that dream and live out that dream!
There is something else that I want us to discuss; this is vital Don’t be distracted, keeping up with the jones, following the crowd, and giving in to peer pressure and trying to fit in…doesn’t have to define you. Your body is a gift, treasure it. Learn to love it …imperfections and all. I know that you do not have many role models. You desire is to hold on to your virginity, instead of giving it up to some random person. However, your body is telling you one thing while your mind is telling you another. Who do you think you should listen to? Listen to that inner voice, it will save you from many failures now and in the future.
Life, situations, friends, and circumstances will pressure you to give in and give it up! You don’t have to give in. Inner strength is available to overcome the temptations that you face. Yeah, some of your friends have lost their virginity since the age of 13; some at 16, and the goal for some is prom night. It seems like they turned out okay, they’re still living and breathing. However, the damage begins internally before it is seen eternally. It is not worth the turmoil, peace is expensive…hold onto it, never lose it.
If you can relate to the things written above, I want you to know that I understand how you feel. It is okay, don’t feel bad. It is okay to be at that point now, but you don’t have to stay there. Confusion, doubt, shame, and depression do not have to be your companions; they’re the worse company to have. Breakup with those emotions and choose to be happy and free. You have the power to create the type of life that you’ve always desired. That power becomes activated when you make the decision to come into the right relationship with the right person.
